Satirical Twitter account suspended over satire?

In my opinion, the Babylon Bee is one of the funniest satire accounts on social media. Their posts are very funny. The account makes fun of politics and religion. While the account clearly shows a right-winged bias, the account pokes fun of the right almost as much as the left.  The particular satirical article in question named White House employee Rachel Levine "Man of the Year" award. You can find the article  here.  The article says Levine " serves proudly as the first man in that position to dress like a western cultural stereotype of a woman. He is also an admiral in the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. What a boss!” It's clearly satirical.  On Monday, Twitter announced to Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillion that the article (which was listed on the Bee's website, and a mere hyperlink was posted to Twitter) goes against Twitter's "hateful conduct" guidelines and the account would be suspended until it was taken down.  Dillion said respo...

Is the left over masks?

Since the beginning of the pandemic, it's been a federal mandate to wear masks on all public transportation. Since 2022 began, it seems as if Covid is over all over the country. Mask mandates are over in most cities, including New York City, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. People are returning to work, school, and major events. However, this week, the federal government issued yet another mask mandate for public transportation.  In Chicago, MSNBC reported "As Covid cases continue to dwindle and metrics continue to improve each month, still the Transportation Security Agency announced they will continue the mask requirement until April 18." I thought it was interesting how they framed this story. Even though Covid is nearly non-existent, the mandate is still in effect. MSNBC didn't seem happy about that.  Scrolling through Twitter, it seems as if most Americans are over mask  requirements  (not masks). Many users on Twitter and TikTok say that it should be up to Ame...

Biased News Media from Las Vegas!

I'm in Las Vegas for work this week and was watching the news this morning to catch the news going Covid crazy again. I couldn't find the story online, so it's possible they revised it. The on-air story was talking about how an unmasked casino manager at a popular Vegas hotel caught Covid and spread it to many employees in the casino. There's been 80 million Americans who have (allegedly) had Covid (Our Source in Data)... it shouldn't make the news when someone gets Covid or even spreads it.  This Las Vegas news station had a reporter at the casino talking about how this manager was maskless and spreading Covid. He did get the Fauci-ouchie, too. In Las Vegas, there is no state or local mandates requiring masks. Most restaurants and casinos (including this one) have dropped the mandate for employees to wear masks. Our Federal Government had updated this mask mandate just a couple of days ago to suggest that "most Americans can go unmasked in public places....

The media and FREE GAS!

I spent the entire first half of the course ripping on the news media for all the one-sided reporting that they do. However, the media can do some good for our community, especially the local stations. I want to start off by saying that local news stations can do good for the community, too. However, this time I wanted to highlight a local radio station.  It's no secret that high gas prices are skyrocketing. In February 2021, the US average was $2.501 per gallon. On March 1, 2022, the average cost is $3.517 and it is continuing to rise every single day. Everyone has their blame on the cause of these astronomical prices. Many blame the President, many blame Russia, and many blame a combination of both. However, Kicks 101.5 of Atlanta wanted to help out some hardworking Americans to offset the cost of gas. The press release said that every Friday from March 1-25, Kicks will be out at Atlanta Racetrac locations giving away $50 gift cards to fill up people's tank. I thought that ...
