Elon Musk OFFICIALY buying Twitter?

Well, after a few weeks of silence, it sounds like it's official that Musk is set to purchase the social media platform, Twitter, for a cool $34 Billion. Although, is that really a bad thing? The left is unhappy with this move, but why? Musk supports free speech, which Twitter doesn't really have. Twitter shows a MASSIVE left-wing bias in accounts that they censor and/or ban. In a Tweet, Musk said " By 'free speech', I simply mean that which matches the law. I am against censorship that goes far beyond the law. If people want less free speech, they will ask government to pass laws to that effect. Therefore, going beyond the law is contrary to the will of the people." I think the best example of this is Former President Donald Trump. Trump has been banned from Twitter for well over a year because he apparently incited violence when the capitol was stormed. At the time of the event, then-President Trump Tweeted NOT to do anything crazy. However, Twitter still f...

Judge overturning federal mask mandate?

On Monday evening, a Federal Judge in Florida overturned a Biden-administration mandate to wear masks on airplanes, in airports, and on any public transportation. As I posted earlier, many Americans were ready to ditch the masks on these planes, since the majority of Americans are no longer advised by the CDC to wear masks anywhere, including indoors. This video shows passengers cheering as the announcement is made that they can remove their masks  https://vm.tiktok.com/TTPd47UxhB/  and this video shows a flight attendant singing about throwing away the masks  https://vm.tiktok.com/TTPd47Y751/ .  The move on the Biden administration to renew the mandate was purely political. Most infectious disease doctors do not believe that Covid is a threat to us anymore. Some politicians, including Anthony Fauci and Jen Psaki continue to believe that we're in grave danger from the virus. However, the rest of America seems to have moved on.  Atlanta-based Delta Airlines...

Elon Musk buying Twitter?

Elon Musk is an ultra-wealthy Billionaire who serves as the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and The Boring Company. He announced Thursday that he wants to purchase Twitter and make have real free speech. On Twitter, Musk announced on April 4 that he bought enough of Twitter to be the majority individual shareholder, owning 9.2% of the company. To put it in perspective, the next largest individual shareholder is Jack Dorsey (Twitter founder) with 2.6%. Thursday, he announces he wants to buyout Twitter and take full control of the company, making it private.  Musk claims, which appear to be true, that Twitter is only free speech for some people. My last post about the Babylon Bee is a great example of this. Donald Trump is another example. It sounds as if Elon Musk will "free" all of the Twitter captives that were banned over speech that shouldn't be censored.  Elon's offer to purchase Twitter consisted of $54.20 per share, which equates to about $43 Billion. Economists say that...

Satirical Twitter account suspended over satire?

In my opinion, the Babylon Bee is one of the funniest satire accounts on social media. Their posts are very funny. The account makes fun of politics and religion. While the account clearly shows a right-winged bias, the account pokes fun of the right almost as much as the left.  The particular satirical article in question named White House employee Rachel Levine "Man of the Year" award. You can find the article  here.  The article says Levine " serves proudly as the first man in that position to dress like a western cultural stereotype of a woman. He is also an admiral in the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. What a boss!” It's clearly satirical.  On Monday, Twitter announced to Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillion that the article (which was listed on the Bee's website, and a mere hyperlink was posted to Twitter) goes against Twitter's "hateful conduct" guidelines and the account would be suspended until it was taken down.  Dillion said respo...

Is the left over masks?

Since the beginning of the pandemic, it's been a federal mandate to wear masks on all public transportation. Since 2022 began, it seems as if Covid is over all over the country. Mask mandates are over in most cities, including New York City, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. People are returning to work, school, and major events. However, this week, the federal government issued yet another mask mandate for public transportation.  In Chicago, MSNBC reported "As Covid cases continue to dwindle and metrics continue to improve each month, still the Transportation Security Agency announced they will continue the mask requirement until April 18." I thought it was interesting how they framed this story. Even though Covid is nearly non-existent, the mandate is still in effect. MSNBC didn't seem happy about that.  Scrolling through Twitter, it seems as if most Americans are over mask  requirements  (not masks). Many users on Twitter and TikTok say that it should be up to Ame...

Biased News Media from Las Vegas!

I'm in Las Vegas for work this week and was watching the news this morning to catch the news going Covid crazy again. I couldn't find the story online, so it's possible they revised it. The on-air story was talking about how an unmasked casino manager at a popular Vegas hotel caught Covid and spread it to many employees in the casino. There's been 80 million Americans who have (allegedly) had Covid (Our Source in Data)... it shouldn't make the news when someone gets Covid or even spreads it.  This Las Vegas news station had a reporter at the casino talking about how this manager was maskless and spreading Covid. He did get the Fauci-ouchie, too. In Las Vegas, there is no state or local mandates requiring masks. Most restaurants and casinos (including this one) have dropped the mandate for employees to wear masks. Our Federal Government had updated this mask mandate just a couple of days ago to suggest that "most Americans can go unmasked in public places....

The media and FREE GAS!

I spent the entire first half of the course ripping on the news media for all the one-sided reporting that they do. However, the media can do some good for our community, especially the local stations. I want to start off by saying that local news stations can do good for the community, too. However, this time I wanted to highlight a local radio station.  It's no secret that high gas prices are skyrocketing. In February 2021, the US average was $2.501 per gallon. On March 1, 2022, the average cost is $3.517 and it is continuing to rise every single day. Everyone has their blame on the cause of these astronomical prices. Many blame the President, many blame Russia, and many blame a combination of both. However, Kicks 101.5 of Atlanta wanted to help out some hardworking Americans to offset the cost of gas. The press release said that every Friday from March 1-25, Kicks will be out at Atlanta Racetrac locations giving away $50 gift cards to fill up people's tank. I thought that ...
